B.U.D.D.I.E.S. Inc.'s
6 Step Rehabilitation Program
Step 1: Acclimate the dog into a small group of socially active dogs (3 days)
Establishes pecking orders which is very essential in social development
(Hoans social skills and creates proper greeting etiquette)
Step 2: Create confidence building routines and exercises through motivational elements (3 days)
Teaches the dog that he can walk into variety if
environments with confidence (Non hostile environments should be
approached as such)
Step 3: Introduce dog to negative reinforcement with mild correction ( 3 days)
Allows the dog to accept leadership, as in (Pecking orders) and unconditional yielding when commanded.
Step 4: Combine positive reinforcement into routines (3 days concurrent with day 3 of step 3)
Allows the dog to associate good behavior with praise and reward as apposed to negative reactions to bad behavior.
Step 5: Introduce the dog to domestic situation (In the home) (3 days)
Reinforces fact that bad behavior is also unacceptable at home not just the dog park
Step 6: Create a regular routine involving steps 1 through 6
Gives the dog regular interaction w/other dogs,
repetitions on confidence and obedience, reinforce your authority
through correction, come home and do it again.
End result is a well rounded dog that has a routine as well as
schedule, knows who is in charge, and given his routine he doesn't have
time to get into trouble. In a dog's world there needs to be strict
discipline no uncertainties as to authority and most important a True
leader willing to exercise his/her privilege as such.
Dogs are social animals and they need constant interaction mental
stimulation and exercise to be happy. The best way to look at it is
"They are dogs, not people"
Violent or seemingly violent behavior does not fracture relationships
in their world and 5 mins. after a correction everything will be okay.
Dogs have an amazing way of resolving conflict in their own way without
human intervention. A dog's life mission is to gain allies not create
adversaries and it's usually human intervention that causes issues and
imbalances.
